This article describes the vestibulo-ocular system’s two parallel pathways (direct and indirect), the place of the velocity storage integrator, and the skull vibration induced nystagmus test.
The research uses understanding of the SVIN mechanism and supports the authors hypothesis that high acceleration movements result in signals using the direct pathway, bypassing the indirect pathway and velocity storage integrator (VSI).
