FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • DO I NEED MONOCULAR OR BINOCULAR IR VIDEO GOGGLES?
Both monocular (one camera) and binocular (two cameras) units enable you to record eye movement during 15 different bedside vestibular tests, including Emory Clinical Vestibular Chair test. The primary difference between the two units is that binocular goggles allow you to view disconjugate eye movement. For some clinicians this may not be critical, but it can be valuable advanced vestibular clinicians, and for those working in areas such as neurology or traumatic brain injury. Note that when testing with binocular goggles, a computer must be used to record eye movement. This allows viewing of both eyes and a room camera, but makes them less compact and versatile than monocular goggles which can be used with smartphone, tablet or computer. Vesticam2 IR video goggles come standard as monocular units. An extra camera unit and leads can be purchased separately to allow for binocular viewing. Once set up for binocular, you can easily unclip one camera unit to use as monocular.
  • DOES VESTICAM2 HAVE AN INTERNAL FIXATION LIGHT?
es! Press the button at the end of the joy-stick to switch the internal fixation light on and off. The goggles must be attached to a recording device for the fixation light to work.
  • CAN I SWAP THE CAMERA TO RECORD EITHER EYE?
Yes! Camera units can be switched from one eye to the other in seconds. The simple twist and lock mechanism prevents any image slippage. The eye cover can be removed and swapped in the same way.
