Gaze Stabilising Exercises: Adaption or Substitution?

Rinaldo et al’s study compares VOR X1 exercises with IVA. The study concludes that VOR X1 exercises result in reduced symptoms and improved function by promoting compensatory saccades (substitution) rather than increasing VOR gain (adaptation). Incremental VOR training, on the other hand, produced improved function and long lasting and significant changes in VOR gain.
